Goodness it has been a couple of weeks since I have posted a blog! Time to get to it right?! Right. Ok so here it goes friends. 100% honesty happening in 3....2....1.... having a family is a WONDERFUL AND REAL, EXCRUCIATING PAIN AND HEARTACHE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS, UPS AND DOWNS, CRAZINESS ALL AROUND MORE THAN MOMENTS OF PEACE AND QUIET kind of life and I wouldn't have it ANY OTHER WAY! I have lived and dreamed and CRIED for THIS! WHAT I HAVE! A wonderful husband who works his booty off day and night for me to be home with our two GORGEOUS little girls, my home may be small but it is FILLED WITH LOVE AND PEACE....even when I do not FEEL IT! :) That seriously just some perspective on things for me. There is PEACE even when I DO NOT FEEL IT! HELLO! God is our peace!
Reason I haven't been posting much is because I have been dealing with myself and the girls being sick for 2 weeks and although we are doing so much better we still have this ridiculous congestion and ALLERGIES! I also had a freakin' FABULOUS birthday weeks! I am so extremely lucky to have people in my life who truly love me. Seriously the best birthday I have had in YEARS.
Ok so to update everyone on homeschooling and how things are going....it is a CONSTANT TEST of my patience. THIS WAS MY DREAM FRIENDS! MY DREAM HAS COME TRUE and it is NOT PERFECT! Remember those words when you wonder what it might be like when your dream finally comes true! LIFE IS AN IMPERFECT, BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE. DREAMS ARE NOT EASY! They require hard work, determination and CAN DO attitudes. NONE OF THIS, well I am trying business! You ALL know what I am talking about it! It WAS lyrics to my life's song... I am trying so hard to do this...well I tried my best. I have come to a realization of the power of words...trying....look it up in the webster dictionary online and the first synonym you will see is BITTER! Now just really let that sink in for a minute or two. When you are trying, you are just bitter and dealing with a burden! Wow. My dream was never supposed to be a burden!
My mindset has CHANGED DRASTICALLY since looking up that simple little word. I will no longer TRY I WILL DO! I WILL GIVE MY ALL with a loving, devoted attitude! It is NEVER EASY, but it WILL BE DONE!
Goodness I am preaching to myself haha. Sorry friends, but maybe it will help and encourage someone!
So I was CLEARLY SIDETRACKED FOR A MOMENT! Homeschooling...it is going EXTREMELY WELL! I have come to realize that I have to be flexible, especially teaching with a toddler in the house. There are days where my set schedule actually works, and there are days when my toddler is what we schedule around! In saying this, it is IMPORTANT to always have a PLAN... but to BE FLEXIBLE with your toddler's needs as well. Homeschooling in a small 1400 sq foot home has definitely brought me in frustration quite a bit. The solution I have found however is this, we are HOMESCHOOLING! THROW STRUCTURE OUT THE DOOR! Now I am not saying you shouldn't have some routines with little ones. It is important INDEED! Waking up, putting on their clothes, making their beds, brushing their teeth, eating breakfast at the dining table...those type of routines. However, it is ALSO GOOD and IMPORTANT for kids to get a feel of a chaotic, not so structured day because THAT IS LIFE FRIENDS! It is NEVER PERFECT! So, there will be days like I said before where my planning succeeds...we do ALL OF THE THINGS...starting with our learning board of fun, going over our alphabet and numbers, then going on to the paper part of reading, writing and arithmetic, followed by lunch, nap and playtime. There are also days where I see the girls just need to GO OUTSIDE FIRST! So we do! Sometimes my Bee will do some of her paperwork outside! There have also been times when we do crafts outside or we run errands or go see family friends. The point in all of this is for ANYONE who wants to homeschool, if you realize that you can teach your child ANYWHERE YOU ARE I promise you will see SUCCESS.
Bee is only 2 months into her homeschooling and she is already READING! She knows what even and odd numbers are! She has read fables and stories, learned about geography and maps. It is AMAZING what the brain absorbs at such a young age!
Never ever give up! Even if you have an off day...that is SERIOUSLY OK. Just remember this, DO NOT TRY, DO IT! GET IT DONE!
